Hey guys! Today we are talking to Essie, who runs her own hand made shop in Palm beach, Australia.
Hi Essie, please let us know more about you.
Hi Im Essie from Honey suckle living. My Mum bought a sewing machine for my big sister who was 15 and I was just 10. I immediately took a liking to the purring of the sewing machine and was fascinated by what it could do
By 16 I was making my own patterns and clothing from pretty much anything, but mainly from my mums table cloths.
Today, years later I still make clothes from tablecloths and fine linens.
Why are you a maker?
Im a maker because its buzzy and such a good feeling to make something from scratch.
What are you currently working on?
Currently Im working on linen dresses for the summer range and table cloth dresses. I am also taking my hand to and trying natural hand dyeing from avocados and other fruit and veggies.
What is your work space like?
I have 2 work spaces. A home studio space and my shop space, so I half my working hours in both spots
My work spaces are an organised mess. Its hard to keep the studio spaces tidy.
Where can we buy from you?
Etsy is where I sell online although I am very behind at present adding new items: Honey suckle living
My shop in Palm Beach Sydney is where you’ll find everything I make to sell, which is mainly women fashion and kids wear. The opening hours for the store and in the bio on my instagram page, here: Honey suckle living
